Welcome!

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. Because of its focus on service to veterans, service members, and communities, the Legion has evolved into one of the most influential nonprofit organizations in the U.S. the Legion has organized many important programs for children and youth.

The Norton-Wuori Post 61 in Kingfield has sponsored local youth for participation including Boys State, one of the most respected and selected educational programs of government instruction for U. S. high school students, in which students become part of the operation of local, county and state government. Other community participation and programs include Americanism activities, flag retirements, community events for children and families, including participation in the Kingfield Days parade and activities.

The Auxiliary at Post 61 shares space and works side-by-side with the Legion post, providing school supplies for the local schools and sponsoring Girls State, similar to the Boys State event, and locally-targeted events such as the Community of Coats drive to benefit Kingfield families. The Field of Flags event at the monument is also sponsored by the Auxiliary.

American Legion Norton-Wuori Post 61 is located at 62 School Street in Kingfield, Maine, 04947. We are excited about a potential move to larger quarters soon!
